This week on my British Author presentation I found out where I can get a book by Robert Burns. I found alot of Articles about him and his poems on the internet as well. I’m almost done with the notes so some time next week I plan to start putting together. This week I probably spent most of my time finding poems and songs by Burns.

On my Social Action Project I’m Working with Kristin C. Our topic is Teen Depression. Our main audience will be an organization who can help with depression. We would probably write a letter trying to persuade them to come to our town. I’m  not really sure what our social presentation is going to be yet. We plan to talk about the dangers of Teen Depression, and the warning signs of people who have depression.

The first topic i have chosen is discrimination in the school. I chose this because i feel that it happens  in every school in the country. Discrimination can effect a teens attitude towards shcool. School should be a safe place where  students should’nt feel at risk. I hope to understand how important this problem is and come up with a few solutions.

The second topic i have chosen is going to college. I chose this because i think college is a very importatn step and some students don’t go for the wrong reasons. Most people think you have to be a brain to get in college. But that’s not true. While reasearching this topic i hope to find out ways in which people can attend college even if they are not smart or rich.

What really worked well for me was intrepting the Author’s poems into what i thought they ment. The messages were a little hard to find at first but then it got easier. You just have to get use to how they write and look for the hidden meaning.

I am struggling with finding a real book by Robery Burns. I might have to go to to public libary to find one. I could just get it off the internet but I would really like to get a hold of one of his books.

What suprised me the most is how many song, and poems my author has written. There must have been a few hundred all added up. I thought that he was just a poet and only wrote a few poems until one of them became famous.

I hope to have a better understanding of the author and what his writing style was like. The Romaticism era was filled with good poets so why is mine so important. Also why poets in that time were so fascinated with love.
